JACKIE SLEPER: En México visité cementerios con tumbas muy impresionantes y conmovedoras por su belleza y simbolismo. Me impresionó la variedad de lápidas, cruces y monumentos en forma de casas, verdadera arte tumbal donde se conjuga el catolicismo y la antigua cultura mexicana. Por este motivo y para darle énfasis en mi obra, combino elementos antiguos y modernos.
In Mexico I visited cemeteries containing tombs whose beauty and symbolism were magnificent and inspiring. I was impressed by the variety of headstones, crosses and monuments in the form of houses, truly artistic tombs combining Catholicism and the old Mexican culture. For this reason and to provide emphasis, I combined ancient and modern elements in my work.
