ÁRBOL DE LA VIDA - Jackie Sleper

JACKIE SLEPER: La ceiba para los Mayas representaba el árbol de la vida, de la sabiduría. En el libro Popol Vuh, el centro es representado por la Ceiba, fuente de la energía vital por donde pasa la vida.
Las extensas ramas de la Ceiba simbolizan los cielos por encima. Su tronco representa el mundo medio, donde viven los seres humanos y sus raíces profundas simbolizan el mundo de los muertos.

For the Mayans, the ceiba represented the tree of life, the tree of wisdom. In the book Popol Vuh, the centre is represented by the ceiba, the source of vital energy through which life passes.
The extensive branches of the ceiba represent heaven above. Its trunk represents the middle world where human beings live, and its deep roots symbolise the world of the dead.
